THIS IS WHY S*X IS GOOD FOR THOSE ABOVE 50
Having an active sex beyond our 50s comes with lots of benefits according to a study published in the journal Age and Ageing.
After analysing 6,800 people between the ages of 50 and 89, researchers from the Coventry University found that having an active sex life over age 50 can boost brain health and protect against dementia.
Dr Harley Wright and Rebecca Jenks of Coventry University, the researchers responsible for the study found people over 50 with active sex lives were more likely to accurately recall both the word and number test conducted for them than those who reported being sexually inactive.
So how does being sexually active help the brains of people over 50?
According to the researchers, sex increases dopamine and oxytocin levels in the brain which helps improve signaling or connectivity between brain regions.
