Belgian footballer dies after collapsing during a match

24 year old Belgian footballer Gregory Mertens died today April 30th in the hospital, three days after he collapsed during a match. Doctors said he died of heart failure. The former Belgium Under-21 international fell during the first half of a match on Monday April 27th. He was first treated on the pitch but when they realized it was serious, he was rushed to the hospital where he was placed on life support. His condition didn't improve and today his family agreed his life support should be switched off. He passed away around 4pm today.

Shark kills woman off Maui, prompts beach closures

A shark killed a 65-year-old woman in an attack off the shore of Maui on Wednesday, officials said. Maui Fire Department said in a statement that the unresponsive woman was found by snorkelers about 200 yards from shore and was taken to the beach at a popular surfing spot. Paramedics attempted lifesaving efforts but were unsuccessful.

Andrew Chan is one of the 8 people executed in Indonesia two days ago. He was known as the Bali 9 ringleader. 15 year old Pemba was pulled out alive after five days under the rubble. He was in a guest house that collapsed during the earthquake in Nepal. He said he drank water dripping from wet clothes to survive and prayed for people to find him. The military authorities have taken the 293 women and girls rescued by the Special Forces during a raid on the dreaded Sambisa Forest to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State. An intelligence officer, who made this known to one of our correspondents on Wednesday, also said the women and girls were undergoing a series of tests, including pregnancy and HIV in the hospital.

The President is entitled to 300 per cent of his annual basic salary when he leaves office. Police clash with Baltimore protesters for a second night

A line of police behind riot shields hurled smoke canisters and fired pepper balls at as many as 200 protesters Tuesday night to enforce a citywide curfew, imposed after the worst outbreak of rioting in Baltimore since 1968. Demonstrators threw bottles at police, and picked up the smoke canisters and hurled them back at officers. No immediate arrests or serious injuries were reported, and the crowd rapidly dispersed.
